Surgery

At Parkside we understand that owners are worried at the thought of their pets undergoing anaesthesia or surgery. We treat your pets as we would treat our own. Each patient is accompanied throughout it's operation by one of our nurses until it has recovered sufficiently to go back to the care of our ward nurse.

At Parkside we have climate control throughout the building and our main operating tables have built-in heating too. Even the steel kennels have under-floor heating so your pet can go back to a warm recovery on soft bedding.

When patients have to stay for a few days we often have owners wishing to visit. Here at Parkside we are proud of our cleanliness and our premises and are only too pleased to allow visits and show off our facilities.

As you might expect we have several anaesthetic machines, piped gasses, monitoring pumps, on-site pre-operative blood testing and large stocks of orthopaedic parts and surgical supplies.

Admissions

Patient admissions are usually between 8.30 - 9.00 am. If your pet has not been examined previously then it is usual for us to make an appointment to see a duty vet before admission to check pet over first.

We ask owners to call back during the afternoon to for a progress report and to arrange collection times when your pet can be discharged and any post-operative care instructions discussed.

If your pet hasn't been microchipped then why not take the opportunity to get that done while pet is asleep?

Barclay and Purdy

"Oh, go on, Purdy let's get in here for a doze?"

"No, Barclay. I keep telling you those beds are for the Patients. You can't just sneak in there for a kip whenever you want!"

"But they're toasty warm with the heated kennels and that nice thick veterinary bedding and the kennel nurse keeps coming round and giving me pats and fresh bowls and things..."
