All the staff at Parkside Veterinary Centre would like to welcome you to
our nurses clinic which is open between 11am-12:30pm - 3:30pm-5pm
Monday-Friday. We have a dedicated team of 4 friendly Qualified Veterinary
Nurses who would like to share their knowledge with you to give all clients
the best care for their pets. At the nurses clinic there are a number of
things that may benefit you, such as: Weight Clinics
Weight clinics are a good way of keeping track of your pet's weight. If you think that your dog, cat or rabbit is overweight or needs to lose a few pounds then why not come to see one of our Qualified Veterinary Nurses for a free check. They can advise you on your pet's ideal weight and the best way to shift those extra few pounds! Whether this will be amending an existing diet, changing to a veterinary formulated diet or giving you tips on how to increase activity and exercise. In the UK 50% of dogs and cats are overweight and unfortunately this can lead to diabetes, heart disease and can even shorten your pet's life by 2 years! So we are happy to help and point you in the right direction. Fireworks
Night is coming soon!!
Is your dog fearful when it comes to fireworks? If you have answered yes to the above question then we are here to help, there are a number of products that may help you such as: DAP Collar – The DAP collar works by releasing a constant stream of synthetic dog appeasing pheromone for a period of about 4 weeks. The dog appeasing pheromone is a substance produced naturally by a lactating bitch to reassure and calm her puppies, as they explore and learn about the whole around them. DAP will comfort puppies and adult dogs in situations they may find worrying or which makes them apprehensive. The collar stays on the dog at all times and helps with events inside and outside the house. It can also help adjusting to new environments, a puppy’s socialisation period, and unpredictable situations away from the home, traffic, other dogs and thunderstorms. Combining both the DAP collar and DAP diffuser may provide optimum results for you dogs/puppies showing fear inside and outside the house. Please also remember there are a variety of things you as the owner can do to help keep your dog calm by, having the television louder than usual to drown out the sound of the fireworks, take them for a long walk early evening before the event is due to start to release any excess energy they may have, change their usual bedding into a den so that they associate it with feeling safe. last updated 06/07/2009
