Emergency Cases

Emergency cases will always take priority. Our 'out of hours' emergency cover is sometimes at this surgery and sometimes contracted with an outside emergency service. The surgery phone number will direct you as appropriate.

All veterinary practices are obliged to arrange for out of hours emergency cover and you should call your usual vet's service for emergency attention when necessary. Our Opening times:

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 7.30pm
Wednesday Late to 9.00pm
Saturday 9.00am to 12 noon
Sundays and Bank Holidays 11.00am to 1pm
Closed Christmas day
Out of Hours Emergencies - call first.

The duty veterinary surgeon may not be on the premises or may be involved with another case. Just turning up out of hours may lead to a delay. Ring first so the vet can meet you at the surgery.

Emergency 'fit in' cases during normal consulting hours will be charged a small premium to avoid 'queue jumping'. Out-of-hours cases have to be charged additionally for that service.

important NOTES

Please remember that animals coming to the surgery may be stressed or in pain and even if they seem normal and relaxed then they may meet other patients without such a calm manner.

Clients are reminded that they must keep their animals under control. This means all dogs must be on leads and all cats and small pets must be in suitable baskets or carriers.

Loose animals are a  risk to themselves and to others. Children and minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Emergency cases may require careful transport. Cats are still safest in secure carriers. A distressed or in-pain cat may lash out. Trauma patients may need special handling - comforted on a  flat board or make-shift stretcher. Safety First! If in doubt call for advice.

Barclay and Purdy
"I remember when they found you Purdy! You were a mess. Those nice folk that found you by the road and brought you down said you should be called 'Lucky'"

"Barclay, if I'd been lucky that horrid car would have missed me! But the nice lady vet mended me so I'm just as pretty."

"Who were your owners before, Purdy?"

"I don't know. What's that word for when you lose your memory? I forget... Still we've both got those microchip thingies now and if we ever get lost we get scanned and brought back to our cosy home."

"Yes, and mine tells my temperature too. I'm not that sort of dog to like the old way of temperatures..."
